Field Notes

Description:

Young tree, maybe 5 inches in diameter. Did not seem to have much dead wood or rot: seemed quite healthy.

Habitat:

Deciduous hardwood forest.

Notes:

I found many small beeches in this area, and a number of large, rotting ones as well.
