Common Scorpionfly

Panorpa communis

Thanks bayucca. This is very difficult to determine which species is involved. Here are six different species of Scorpionfly. But I think that this is a Panorpa communis.
I think it is Panorpa communis. There is also a Panorpa vulgaris, which is considered by some authors as a different species. Other authors mean that it is the same species. Obviously it is not possible to separate the 2 species only by a picture. I leave it to you how you handle this "conflicting" situation. You may have more informations about the species found in Finland. http://www.pbase.com/image/108446661
