Field Notes

Description:

Medium-sized heron with dark upperparts contrasting with white belly and white stripe on front of neck

Habitat:

Wetlands west of Pueblo, CO

Notes:

This bird is fairly far out of range, although some do wander north and west every summer. It was the first one I've ever seen.
