Notes:

update: This was identified by bat expert Dr Phillip Alviola as a sub adult Pteropus pumilus.

It was on a "no parking" sign in our office parking lot... I have no idea why it was there. Perhaps it was injured and couldn't fly. As the 2nd photo shows, I helped it scramble up a palm tree. That was the closest I've ever been to a bat. An amazing experience.

Species ID Suggestions

Giant golden-crowned flying fox

Acerodon jubatus

Philippine naked-backed fruit bat

Dobsonia chapmani

I just love it when a spotting gets a name...especially when an expert responds to follow up.
Thanks to MichaelS and Neil Ross for interacting with my post. I finally got a bat biologist in the Philippines to ID my photos - he says this is Pteropus pumilus, the little golden-mantled flying fox. There's more info on the species here: http://archive.fieldmuseum.org/philippine_mammals/species/SP_180.asp
Hi machel, Welcome to the Project Noah community!
Welcome, Machel. Excellent spotting! I've suggested an ID for you. Wikipedia provides lots of info on this endemic species to the Philippines. It's just a suggestion, but a good place to start your own investigations to confirm or refute the ID.
