Field Notes

Description:

Called flamebacks because of the golden colour of their backs. Crown is red. Face shows black stripes, as does the throat.

Habitat:

Trees...usually seen pecking on the trunks trying to ferret out insects. This one caught a more protein-rich breakfast at about 8 Am in the morning.

Notes:

The early bird caught the lizard; the curiosity of elderly morning walkers who saw me point the camera scared the bird...I got only this one shot.
This was taken inside a residential colony.
