Field Notes

Description:

Upper surface of hindwing iridescent blue or blue-green. Underside of hindwing with submarginal row of 7 round orange spots in iridescent blue field. Wing Span: 2 3/4 - 5 inches (7 - 13 cm).

Habitat:

This female is laying groups of orange eggs on the Wooly Pipevine, Aristolochia tomentosa. After laying several on the tips and leaves of the vine she would rest on the ground in the shade below.
