1st recorded species in California in Bug guide.
Notably, during the first three months after they hatch, due to a genetic defect they can only turn to the left while flying. If they want to go to the right, they must land and turn on the ground.
Telse , I think you should be safe from the moths. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
@ Jemma...Lol! There are no Bed Bugs here...just lots of Moths right now. I guess I'll have to sleep through it all. Night!
Thanks Telse. It took me a while to get into moths. Now there is no getting out. Goodnite! Sweet Dreams ! Do not let the bed bugs bite! Talking about bed bugs these are becoming a reality in the USA.
Gorgeous Jemma! Moth week is killing me... I need to go to bed! I just can't stop observing everyone's Moths. Help! 1:43 A.M. here. I need to work in the morning. lol. I'll make it!
The host plant is wild lettuce. We have a lot of miner's lettuce in the backyard, thanks to "active seed dispersal"
It sure looks pretty close Jemma... yours doesn't have a pin though :)

Thanks, Mark! Unfortunately this Phoebe family has eaten it up.including the orb weaver spiderlings. So much for Hungry birds! http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/27633469
Chief ,so true.Both are Noctuidae.
Keith, unfortunately this moth was swiped in mid air by a sharp sighted Phoebe, with super sonic speed. I twas fed to it's very hungry fledgling.
