Field Notes

Description:

I spotted this near my room window on a rainy day. It is pure green in color and with body length 17-20 mm. It had brownish yellow eyes and continuously chirped.
Grasshoppers stridulate by rubbing their hind legs against their wings. They have ears at the front of their abdomen. Males stridulate to attract females. Each species of grasshopper has a unique chirp or song and can be identified by this.

Habitat:

It is widespread and common in the garden areas with long grass.
