Field Notes

Description:

Juvenile American Bullfrog sitting in shallow water at edge of pond.

Habitat:

Artificial pond in yard - Riparian Zone.

Notes:

I nicknamed this little dude "Bumpy" (previously spotted 6/18/2013 in the same area - http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/27393146). Bumpy and 2 other juvenile bullfrogs have been living in a small pond in my back yard for the past month or so. I distinguish this guy from the other 2 (and more at times) by his prominent back ridges and the shading on his ear - traits unique enough in comparison to the others for me to confidently identify.

I created the pond earlier this year as part of the N.I.T.Y. Project (http://www.projectnoah.org/missions/18470107) - It's located by a larger natural pond, which is why I get so many frog guests in it.
