Field Notes

Description:

Medium to large bird. Males are black with bright red shoulder patches. Small yellow stripe along bottom of red patch.

Habitat:

Wetland bordering lagoon,sparse trees,fence and dense shrubs,cattails of lagoon.

Notes:

This Red winged blackbird had less color compared to other Red winged blackbirds in the area. It was resting on the fence after a rain. It got my attention when it was making loud calls.
