Found in my garden in North Wales. We have literally hundreds. This one was in my raised bed living between the wood and soil..

I'm a good 20 miles from the coast so doubt they'd be sand lizards..
I think the North Wales Wildlife Trust may have correctly identified them as either palmate or smooth newts. They said to look for speckles on the throat which would identify them as smooth. I looked and cannot see speckles so suspect they are palmate.. :) thanks for your help. I will try and photo the underside when I'm back in the garden..
Thanks Celyncoed. My question was for identification purposes. If they show green flanks they can be sand lizards as I see you're near the coast (Lacerta agilis) (breeding males get green flanks).
