Fun fact! The bobolink makes an incredible journey of up to 6,500 miles northward each spring to breed in North America, making the return trip in the Fall as it returns to its wintering grounds in South America. Researchers tracking the species recorded one bird that flew 12,000 miles over the period of a year, and up to 1,100 miles in a single day. As members of this species can live over 10 years, it is conceivable that this bird could travel the equivalent of circumnavigating the world almost 5 times during its lifetime! https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10153432320190603&set=a.10152575329380603.958289.10150120463815603&type=1
