Field Notes

Description:

This little being was crawling on the grass flashing its green and red colors. I thought it was some immature bug. In the last picture it is shown pushing out its wings. It flew a little ant then curled them back in.

Habitat:

Western Himalayas.

Thanks a lot injica, Leuba and bayucca. Leuba, this is what I saw for a few seconds. Thanks for all the efforts!
yes sorry to created further confusion, definitely, I was wrong ;)
Definitely a Rove Beetle.
Have a look at this link: http://www.flickr.com/photos/tr33lo/420992259/ Can't find an exact match but I think it is a Rove beetle. The beautiful shiny purplish parts are the short fore-wings, under which are the more membranous hind wings ( extended in the Flickr photo).
looks like Dermaptera without pinchers
Could be a Rove Beetle. Quite attractive !. Need to confirm this ID.
