Field Notes

Description:

Unique red and green bird attracting flowers. The tubular flowers are coated with dense hairs and open at the apex with six claw-like structures. They form into a shape resembling a paw, hense the name kangaroo paw.

Habitat:

Kalbarri National Park WA

Notes:

The Mangles Kangaroo Paw is the floral emblem of WA and is endemic to tht state.

We are able to grow some of the varieties here. They seem to do ok if they have rocky, well drained area.
Oh beautiful Kerry! I love Kangaroo Paws. I cant tell you how many times I've tried to grow them here on the east coast, failing every time. Lovely spotting :)
