Wildlife Spotting

This plant was not able to be identified, but hopefully this description will help. This plant has thin leaf stems, maybe a little thinner than a wooden pencil. It's leaves vary in colors and shades of green and yellow, and in this picture some parts of the leaves are dead/ dying (indicated by brown). It's leaves have multiple points on them and each point is about 2-3 inches wide. There is an average of 15 points on each leaf. The leafs are very flimsy and do not seem to be very sharp either. Each leaf has 2-3 stripes, which appear to be midribs. There were neither visible fruits nor flowers. This plant is surrounded by native Hawaiian plants (lauaʻe, tī).
