Description:

a large woodpecker - maybe 12 inches long, light yellow breast with black spots, dark yellow back with black bars, black cresant across top of the breast, red slash on back of the head; eats ants & beetles

Habitat:

urban back yard

Notes:

seen on the ground, surprising to get this photo becuase usually when you approach they scare off and all you see is a flash of them as they fly of
