Field Notes

Description:

Very alert and wary bird that blends into the foliage. The circlet of orange bare skin around the eyes is distinctive.

Habitat:

Sitting on a tree. Spotted during my morning walk. Urban residential area.

Notes:

I used to see it in Delhi too.

Thanks Brian...apparently all Barbets have these whiskers. https://adityasbirdingblog.com/2018/02/06/the-colorful-world-of-barbets-2/ though I must admit I have never seen the patch change colour...never noticed maybe.
What a beak! Love the green hue on lower chest and edge of wings and the whiskers are interesting.
