Field Notes

Notes:

This may be the biggest spider I have seen in California, about 3 inches in diameter... and he bit me. leaving a lump on my leg about 3-4 inches in diameter and caused a slight rash. also never seen a lump on me that big left by an arthropod. I let him go after this encounter. Really wondering what kind of spider he is.

Species ID Suggestions

Tengellid spider

Titiotus sp.

Thank you Emily. He's only doing what he has to do :)
You're a good man for letting it go...even after it bit you!
Haha thank Lauren. But na, it wasn't actually that bad. I cant describe it any other way other than it was just really noticeable. Didn't even itch, thankfully.
What dedication! The bite must have hurt with a spider that size.
