Field Notes

Description:

Possible dragonfly nymph, though the coloring was rather dull and indistinct.

Habitat:

We found this benthic macroinvertebrate in the water just under the Highway 216 bridge in Hurricane Creek Park, located between Brookwood and Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

Notes:

As part of a water testing team, identifying macros present in the water gives a way of checking the extent of pollution from coal mines and developments upstream.
