Though it leaves a minor sting from an acid found in the barbs underneath the plant, it can still be harvested and ingested when cooked, or prepared in a tea! The plant has some vasoconstrictor mechanisms that can stave off an asthma attack in the wild! http://www.diynatural.com/stinging-nettle-how-to-identify-harvest-and-eat/
Nice spotting of a plant that can be problematic for anyone who spends much time in the great outdoors!
