This delightful honeyeater is from southern Australia and often common among nectar bearing flowers such a s Grevillea. Easily identifiable by a flash of yellow on its wings and tail feathers it is hard to see closely or photograph because it is very active.

Notes:

Yesterday marks the winter solstice (short day) and summer begins approaching for the southern hemisphere..

Thanks ShannaB. They are a common honeyeater around blossom plants such as grevillea.
Leanne, here is the range of this honeyeater, so you are in with a chance. They are not likely to be common at the tip of their range. http://www.backyardbuddies.net.au/bmail/Bmail_August_2012.html
I'd so love to see one of these. Glad you got a shot Martin :)
This one was too fast too, Mark. I got lucky. There was a spinebill too but too blurry to post. They are mainly southern Kerry and common in Victoria but I've seen plenty in Sydney too.
Good one Martin. They're always too fast for me.
