Field Notes

Description:

For my 300th spotting, a group photo! Ember Parrotfish, AKA Redlip Parrotfish, with his good friends Convict Tang (Acanthurus triostegus) and Orangespine Unicornfish (Naso lituratus), enjoying a peaceful day in Hanauma Bay, Oahu, Hawaii.

Notes:

Hanauma Bay is never the clearest water, or the least crowded beach, but it is always the best place on Oahu to see groups of diverse fish hanging out in close proximity to one another.

Yes, I have 152 different species of fish I have collected over the past few years from my snorkeling adventures in Hawaii! Many are from Hanauma Bay. I hope to get them all uploaded by next week!
You're getting a great collection. It's pretty hard to focus on just one at Hanauma Bay :)
Thank you so much for all the info .
Yes, I do have a digital underwater camera. Nikon Coolpix AW110. The shot was definitely from underwater.
You probably have a waterproof camera? These pictures cannot be taken from the surface? I do not have a water proof camera.
Snorkel, all my pictures are snorkel only. Lived in Hawaii 5 years and never certified to scuba.... This particular picture was in only 4-5' of water.
Did you have to snorkel or scuba dive to see these?
