Field Notes

Description:

Small moth. The wings look like Batik painting; with abstract designs etched out in "cracks." Shades of dark ashy black/charcoal and a touch of yellow. Body is banded.

Habitat:

Campus of the Neora Valley Jungle Camp.Hilly. Forested. Himalayan foothills. Remote. Moth paradise. Wild and forested area; the porch lights draw the moths in.

Notes:

At night the low wattage of the porch light is not enough to shoot the moths well. The flash bleaches out their colours. I experimented with a small hand-held torch...hence the pool of light and darkness outside...one handed shots often come out blurry though. Maybe next time I should go for a head mounted light.
