Field Notes

Description:

There is a large flock of black vultures living at the exotic wildlife sanctuary that I visit regularly; they hang about in hopes of being able to steal some food given to the large cats (lions, tigers). Many people dislike vultures but I think they're great as nature's janitors and their flight is beautiful.

Habitat:

Exotic wildlife sanctuary

Notes:

The one shown in the first photo appears to have a bill that was injured in the past; occasionally, a big cat gets one and the keepers are not always there fast enough to save the bird. We do have a couple that were saved and that can no longer fly but they seem to do fine.
