Southern Leopard Frog
Lithobates sphenocephalus
34.4863, -79.1969
Field Notes
Description:
One of the best looking frogs out there in my opinion. Large, about 4" with brown spots covering a glossy green and brown body. White lines run down the outside ridges of the body.
Habitat:
Swampy pond area in a mixed forest.
Notes:
Found on a night frog hunt with a group of 3rd-6th graders staying at our camp for an overnight outdoor retreat and photographed the following day before release.
