Field Notes

Description:

Common throughout North America, the mourning dove is well known for being hunted for game and as food. Their call is mistaken for an owl at times by non-bird watchers/ non- bird experts. It's call is how it got it's name, for it sounds like as if in mourning. They are light grey and brown and generally muted in color.

Habitat:

I took this photo in my backyard.
