Field Notes

Description:

An unknown nest structure for a wasp or hornet perhaps.

Habitat:

Found in a wooded area in Park Rapids, MN

Notes:

I found this wasp/hornet nest underneath a jack pine tree, torn into the pieces you see in the photos. It has a unique tubular entrance that I've never seen before. There are many paper birch nearby which I think contribute to the white color of the paper. Any thoughts or suggestions on what type of wasp, bee or hornet it might be from?
