Field Notes

Description:

A pair of Osprey working on their nest. The female seems to be sitting eggs as she was last week(last picture). Overhead another pair was calling back and forth and circling the nest. We seem to have a shortage of suitable spots in Oregon now, or perhaps this was last year's chick(I am told there were three) hoping to use it in the parent's absence

Too many missions, so little memory! I'll do it for you :) Since we will probably head up the highway on a nearly weekly basis for awhile, I have no doubt we'll get to see the chicks! Very lucky this is at the edge of a highway with a handy pullout, AND that you have to know it's there as it is hard to see from the highway
Very neat series, Karen!! I hope you get to watch this year's babies grow up and fledge!! (And I hope we get to see more of them!) I'd love this in the Raptor mission!! ;-)
It really was. While we were watching, another couple pulled over and told us they got to watch the previous year's chicks fledge and then be driven from the nest
