Field Notes

Description:

It is a 2.5 - 4.8 mm big beetle that has a hairy body. Her two elytra are black and on each there are two large orange-reddish spots. The two spots in front are larger than the other two lying at the ends of its wings.

Habitat:

They are widespread across Europe, where can be often found on the plants in large sandy areas but also on loamy subsoil like the area where I have found it. They prefer habitats where the vegetation is not too high like along roadsides or highways, despite that I have spotted mine in the forest walking on the oak leaf.
