Field Notes

Description:

Mounding piles of little dirt hills in the lawn about 1 - 1 1/2" tall. Several of these mounds. Have never seen these before. Heard other neighbors have them also. Little tiny looking green bees maybe the size of a fly.

Habitat:

Country yard setting. Appears that each mound has one ?? little bee ??. They just burrow straight down in. Don't know how deep they go.

Notes:

Have mowed over them with lawn tractor but no attacks. Doesn't seem to matter that lawn tire flattens the mounds down - it gets rebuilt.
