Field Notes

Description:

5" small warbler, white belly & black chin, black & white stripes on crown & black cheek patch.

Habitat:

Spotted on Hwy 29 on North Cotton Lake Rd. near public boat access. Lives near a wooded area. Searches for insects eggs in the bark of large trees.

Notes:

Black and white warbler is the only warbler that moves head first down a tree trunk. Makes nest on the ground concealed under dead leaves.
