Field Notes

Description:

Up very early one morning and saw these orb-weaver spider webs, lots of them, covered in dew, draped all over a row of Bradford pears. The smallest was the size of the palm of my hand, the largest 6 feet tall and 4 feet across. A photo of one of the architects ends the series.

Notes:

Didn't even try to guess at a species ...

Thanks, Landmark and Subin!
It was a memorable morning, Jemma. I was there to photograph an early morning event and there they were, hundreds of them. I'd never seen that many spider webs in one place. A little overwhelming, a wonderful gift for me.
lovely. We had two little orb weaver spiderlings. The phoebes with fledglings fed them to their babies.Once it gets really warm, more might show up.We never had these many phoebes before.
