Field Notes

Description:

Pieridae; Pierinae; Anthocharini; Leptosia; Leptosia nina georgi Fruhstorfer, 1910. There are two ssp. of L. nina in Philippines, both of which are endemic. In southern Philippines, Leptosia nina terentia is present and in northern Philippines, where I live, Leptosia nina georgi is present.

Habitat:

This delicate little creature was spotted perching on a rusty old door frame in the rice mill. Of course, the true habitat of this butterfly is the tropical flora in the area surrounding the mill. The butterfly is in the right place. It is the rice mill which is the intruder.
