Description:

The bradford pear tree is a tree in the family Rosaceae. It is native to China and Vietnam. This tree has a very unique smell, sometimes described as rotting flesh. I can sure vouch for that!

Hi, Venus. You're in the right ball park, a pear for sure, genus Pyrus. Wait and see what kind of fruit it makes. I suspect it's a Bradford pear tree, often used in landscape plantings ... makes a small marble-sized fruit that birds eat. And yes, the flowers smell pretty acrid.
