Field Notes

Description:

Cap. Large cap 5 inches diameter; white with rust-brown scales, denser at the center. Gills decurrent. Gill edges serrated.
Stem slightly wider at the base, tapering to the apex ; scales almost geometrically arranged in rows.
Spore print, white.
Spores. 8-12µ x 2.5-3µ.
No distinctive odor.

Habitat:

Growing on an old pine stump
