Field Notes

Description:

I've been watching this bush since I first noticed the flowers before the leaves emerged. Very pleased to feel I have nailed down the correct species ID based on these lovely glossy dark black blueberries. Tart but delicious, and somewhat smaller and less glaucous and blue than what you find in the grocery store, these are Black Highbush Blueberries.

Habitat:

Spotted growing on a wooded drive near an old church and cemetery and a utility plant.
