Field Notes

Description:

Nest of Pied Myna or Asian Pied Starling (Gracupica contra).

Habitat:

Urban. On an electric pole. What is surprising is that there is a park with tall trees right behind this pole...the bird chose a man-made object to nest on.

There must be a logic behind this. The more I observe nature ,the more I find that there is intelligent life all around us! the tiniest insects have an action plan! Amazing and fascinating indeed!
Hema Shah That is what I thought too, plus more insects under the canopy, on the leaves, in the bark...etc., etc. A more "natural"habitat...but I guess these are really URBAN in every sense.
One would assume that the tree wood provide a better hiding place from other predators.
Because it's made by a bird, can you edit this spotting and add it to the Bird category rather than the Other category? Thanks.
