Field Notes

Description:

Large, dark; horns fused

Habitat:

Savanna, open acacia scrub

Notes:

I observed a small group. Cattle egrets were feeding on insects flushed by the buffalo, while oxpeckers were feeding on buffalo ectoparasites. Two excellent examples of mutualism.
