Description:

One of the biggest butterflies in Europe, females can reach 55-75 cm wingspan. The wings are yellowish with vertical black bands. The hindwings have a big blue eye partially surrounded by black and red rims. Besides, the hindwings present two long tails that make it very similar to Papilio machaon.

Habitat:

Spotted at town park, Parque del Retiro, Madrid, during a butterfly counting by citizen volunteers to create a urban park catalog of butterflies uBMS (urban Butterfly Monitoring Schemes) http://ubms.creaf.cat/
