Not odd at all seeing them this early. They hibernate the winter under logs in hallow trees. (Hibernating Mourning Cloak here http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/216456063) Beautiful velvet color with light blue spot (although the spots in may area have purple spots http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/274576054)
