Field Notes

Description:

I found this egg washed up on the edge of a pond. A wooded trail circled the pond. It was about the size of a ping pong ball. The surrounding area had a lot of pine trees, cattails, and skunk cabbage. I saw beaver dams, frogs, ducks, geese, and swans in the area also. Could this be a turtle egg? Maybe a snake egg?

It could be a turtle egg I suppose. See http://nwghost.com/ua/ist361s07/hudsonriver/Hudson_River_SectionA/images/SnappingTurtle3.jpg In any event you should probably move it to the Reptiles category if it is an egg of that size (It doesn't belong in "other"). :-)
