The male is in the first picture and the plainer female is in the last 2. Besides being a duller gray, she lacks the black eyebrow.

Scott, I'll have to look for a nest. It sounds like it looks like a hummingbird nest, just a little larger.

They make fantastic little nests, well camouflaged with lichens and other materials.

Thanks Bill. I use the new Canon 500mm with a 1.4x teleconverter on my 5D Mark II. It was really overcast and I pushed the ISO up to 2500.

Super sharp photo Tom! Gorgeous bird as well. What lens do you use for smaller birds such as this if you don't mind me asking.

thats the exact method i use to get their attention, in my opinion it works best with these guys.

Thanks Jamie. These are cute little birds, and they're curious. This pair came right in when I started pishing (making a pssssh noise) and gave me nice long views from different branches up close.
