Field Notes

Description:

This spider was about 5 cm in circumference, black with an orange-ocre stripe on the back, yellow dots.

Habitat:

This one I found under an oak tree near a forest on the Romanian side of the Danube gorges.

Notes:

Please help me identify this spider. I have never seen anything close to this in Romania, so far. It might be a common species...

Hmmm... could be. I not familiar with all the harvestmen species and the ones I usualy see are much smaller and the legs look longer in proportion to the body.
possibly not a spider but a harvestman http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Opiliones
