Field Notes

Description:

This is the egg of an insect of American origin that was introduced accidentally in Italy in the late 80s and just naturalized by Western Mediterranean. Its size is similar to a large house fly, but the colors of their wings and orange tones of the abdomen and thorax are very characteristic; but what is unmistakable is the presence of a crushed flakes in the warm the last pair of legs that resemble a bird feather. Lays its eggs on adults of Nezara (rarely last instar nymphs) and her larva penetrates the bug and fed it until it completes its development, then out to pupate in the soil. The parasitized pestosa not die and continues to cause damage.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Habitat:
