I mean it seemed no worse for the experience!
Yes, definitely alive! I thought I could just pick it up and put it back in the water, but it was surprisingly strong. I ended up coaxing it into a plastic trash bag, carrying it to the nearby pond and releasing it. I seemed no worse for the experience.
