Description:
Beautiful green caterpillar with conspicuous white spots and a bright red horn at its rear. These caterpillars eat plants in the Onagraceae family. Here in Kodiak, fireweed is one of the most plentiful of its hosts, which is why they are called Fireweed Hornworms. They also feed on Willow-herbs (Epilobium spp.) and Galium species.
