Field Notes

Description:

Spiny-tailed lizard with a yellowish ring around the neck on a light brown body. From 6-8 inches long.

Habitat:

Found under rocks and among tree roots. Not normally seen but can be hunted as they are edible. Found mostly in the foothills on the edge of the Amazon rainforest of SE Ecuador.

Notes:

This example is a female. The males are more brightly colored and a little larger.
