Field Notes

Description:

Family: Sphingidae, Subfamily: Sphinginae (Large Sphinx Moths) TL: 45-60 mm. WS: 101 mm. Grary FW has double jagged black lines. Oblique apical dash touches jagged ST line. Conspicuous white spot (s). Adults feed on tubular flowers. Hosts: Ash, oak, fringe trees.

Habitat:

Near woodlands and meadow. Comes to porch light.

Notes:

2nd spot of same moth or different Waved Sphinx Moth 1 1/2 days apart.
