Description:

The Pacific gopher snake is a subspecies of large nonvenomous colubrid snake native to the western coast of the United States. Wikipedia

Habitat:

Southern California coast.

Notes:

My brother almost stepped on this snake as he was trail running. This is as close as we dared to venture since he did not know if it was a rattle snake. The picture was taken in Palos Verdes California, on a preseve.
