Field Notes

Description:

There was this small patch of these on this part of the trail but nowhere else.

Habitat:

Robinson Woods. Dominated by white pine, red oak and hemlock trees

Notes:

These woods seemed to have some distinctive plant territories: I would find a certain plant plentiful in one spot but then not encounter it again on the trail. I noticed this with a patch of Lily of the Valley as well as these Bunchberries. I also noticed some areas would only have one species of understory plant take over, such as patches of False Solomon's Seal, Cinnamon Fern, and Lily of the Valley (unlike this patch of Bunchberry that has other understory plants mixed in).
